Software Turns Documents into Internet Documents

LizardTech introduced software yesterday that allows marketers to scan catalogs for archiving or placement on the Web.

Called DjVu WorkGroup, the software converts documents into files through a "drag and drop" interface, allowing users to reduce the files to 1,000 times smaller than the originals.

According to the Seattle company, outside of catalogs, the software works well as an online documentation system for books, magazines, newspapers and legal contracts.

The system offers up to nine "watched" folders for document encoding. This feature allows users to monitor numerous file conversions simultaneously with user-specified encoding profiles. In addition, DjVu can convert multi-page or single-page documents while preserving the original document for printing purposes.
