Software Turns Documents Into Internet Deja Vu

LizardTech, Seattle, has introduced software designed to allow marketers to scan catalogs for archiving or placement on the Web.

Called DjVu WorkGroup, the software converts documents into files through a "drag and drop" interface, allowing users to reduce the files by up to 1,000 times. Outside of catalogs, the software works well as an online documentation system for books, magazines, newspapers and legal contracts, according to the company.

The system offers up to nine "watched" folders for document encoding. This feature allows users to monitor numerous file conversions simultaneously with user-specified encoding profiles. In addition, DjVu can convert multipage or single-page documents while preserving the original document for printing purposes.
