Smithsonian Catalogue Chooses PFSweb

CHICAGO -- PFSweb Inc. will provide outsourcing services for Smithsonian Business Ventures under a five year deal announced at the Direct Marketing Association's 19th Annual Catalog Conference & Exhibition here yesterday.


The Smithsonian Catalogue and Smithsonian's e-commerce efforts will use PFSweb services including inventory management, distribution, fulfillment, customer service, order management, letter shop services, credit card processing and reverse logistics management.


In May Smithsonian announced its intention to close its catalog fulfillment center in Chantilly, VA, and outsource its operations in order to reduce operating costs and improve the profitability of the mail-order business.


Smithsonian Business Ventures said the closure will save millions of dollars annually.
