Draftfcb Chicago has promoted EVP and chief strategic planning officer Jamie Shuttleworth to chief strategy officer, the agency said May 13. He will report directly to Draftfcb Chicago president Michael Fassnacht and manage about 100 employees in the agency's planning and customer intelligence departments.

The chief strategy officer position is a newly-created role designed to “get the tension between data analytics and creative planning to intersect," said Shuttleworth.

“There will always be distinct talent sets,” he said. “You've got heavy data analytics people versus creative planning people, but those different disciplines can create unique ideas.”

Karl Turnbull, previously EVP and group director of strategic planning, will replace Shuttleworth. Turnbull will report directly to Shuttleworth, who joined FCB in 1997, nine years before the agency's merger with Draft. Turnbull joined FCB in August 2005 after working at JWT.
