Shockwave Debuts Animated Infomercial

Shockwave.com debuted a short animated infomercial for its ShockMachine earlier this month on its Web site continuing in the site's short yet substantial history of luring visitors by mixing popular culture and animation.

The ShockMachine is a free multimedia player download that allows people to play games, cartoons and music from their PC desktops.

The 120-second mock infomercial features two "yell and sell" hosts who field calls from satisfied users in front of a studio audience. The hosts hawk the player on a page designed to look like a television screen.

The infomercial is complete with the requisite "amount downloaded" counter and crossed out price of $19.95, revealing the player to be free of charge.
