Sharper Image's Q1 Same-Store Sales Dip 16 Percent

Sharper Image Corp., San Francisco, reported yesterday a net loss of $4.6 million for its first quarter ended April 30. Last year, the multichannel specialty retailer reported net earnings of $1.9 million in its first quarter.


Also, Sharper Image said its revenue totaled $144.9 million in the quarter, a 7 percent drop from last year. Same-store sales decreased 16 percent for the period.


Catalog/direct marketing sales totaled $39.7 million, a 12 percent decline. Internet sales alone totaled $23.2 million, a 12 percent drop.
