Sharper Image Sees Surge in Catalog, Internet Sales
Driven in no small part by its Web site and catalog, Sharper Image Corp. reported a 26 percent increase yesterday in annual total revenues. Sharper Image had $647.5 million in revenues up from last year's $513.8 million.In the company's fiscal fourth quarter ended Jan. 31, Sharper Image had a 29 percent increase in revenues to $278.4 million compared to $216.5 million last year. Total fourth-quarter sales increased 33 percent to $171.7 million from $129.1 million in the fourth quarter last year. Comparable store sales were up 17 percent, the company said.
The specialty retailer of electronics and gadgets showed strong increases in its direct sales channels in the fourth quarter. Catalog sales increased 14 percent to $54.9 million and Internet sales were up 34 percent to $43.6 million
