Senate Postal Reform Hearing Rescheduled for April 14
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on postal reform scheduled for April 7 has been rescheduled to April 14. The hearing, titled "U.S. Postal Service: What is Needed to Ensure its Future Viability?" will be at 2 p.m. in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.Panel 1 witnesses include Timothy S. Bitsberger, assistant secretary of the treasury for financial markets; Roger Kodat, deputy assistant secretary for government financial policy; and Dan G. Blair, acting director of the Office of Personnel Management.
Panel 2 witnesses will include Postmaster General John E. Potter and David M. Walker, comptroller general of the United States.
The hearing was postponed because of the April 8 funeral of Pope John Paul II. Committee chairwoman Susan Collins traveled to Vatican City last week to honor the pontiff.
Also on April 14, the House Committee on Government Reform also will begin the process of marking up the House postal reform bill.
