SAS Buys Verbind Tech Assets

SAS Institute Inc. said yesterday that it has acquired certain technology assets of Verbind, Lexington, MA, a real-time behavioral tracking and event-triggering technology vendor.

SAS, Cary, NC, will integrate the technology into its SAS Interaction Management product, which lets companies respond quickly to changing customer behaviors and deliver relevant messages to individual customers via the most effective channel or channels.

The extended product, SAS said, will let organizations determine in real time which changes in customer behavior are significant and identify when those changes will occur across multiple channels.

"We are committed to improving customers' return, and the acquisition of the Verbind technology supports this goal," said Jim Davis, SAS senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

SAS' acquisition of these Verbind assets follows a successful partnership between the two companies.
