Sara Lee to Outsource in Europe

Sara Lee Corp. has chosen ICG Commerce to handle e-procurement initiatives for three European divisions.


ICG's e-procurement services will be used to electronically pool and aggregate purchasing with other companies in the European market and to tap common suppliers to secure better pricing. The move is expected to assist Sara Lee in reducing costs and improving productivity.


Under the agreement, ICG, Jenkintown, PA, will manage $170 million in indirect purchases. Over the next year and a half, Sara Lee's European divisions intend to outsource nearly 80 percent of their purchases, or $800 million, to ICG Commerce.
