RMS Media Debuts OT Magazine

Custom publisher RMS Media Group Inc. launched OverTime Magazine, a business and lifestyle title also known as OT.

The title, whose first issue is being distributed this month, targets athletes and sports industry insiders, with endorsements from the NFL Players Association and Players Inc.

"It serves the need of the athlete, given the average 4 1/2-year career span in sports, to help them prepare for their career after their retirement," said Rick Sedler, president and founder of RMS Media, Boston.

The publication features news, case studies and articles on trends, family, finance, fashion and fitness. The first issue includes pieces on athletes Franco Harris, Bernie Kosar, Jennifer Azzi, Sylvia Crawley, Roger Staubach and Ronnie Lott.

The controlled-circulation quarterly has a distribution of 25,000. Former University of Miami Hurricane and NFL Pro Bowl veteran Ryan McNeil created the magazine in collaboration with RMS. Its Web site is www.ot-magazine.com.

"The list is made up of folks who are in professional sports, the sports agents, the top officials and the teams themselves -- the coaches, the owners and senior members of the teams," Sedler said. "It's not a rented list. It's a list Ryan McNeil, through his association in the business and the industry, obtained."

Sedler, former publisher of luxury magazine Robb Report, was instrumental in launching the publication as general contractor. McNeil is publisher and editor in chief, and Stacy Small, former Elite Traveler editorial director, holds the same title at OT.

Among other big names associated with the startup are George Gendron, former editor-in-chief of Inc. magazine and now adviser to OT -- he conceived the title along with McNeil -- as well as Charles D. Smith, former NBA player and now vice president of corporate communications on the magazine. Russ Rocknak is art director.
