Report: FTC Looking Into Verisign's Tactics

The Federal Trade Commission is investigating a marketing campaign by online address registrar Verisign, according to a Reuters report.

The FTC is seeking information about Verisign, Mountain View, CA, which is alleged to have transferred Web addresses, deleted domain names and sent direct mail solicitations to customers of competitors in a marketing campaign that concluded in May.

Competitors and a class-action lawyer have filed four suits against the company related to its marketing practices, according to the report.
