Red Door Interactive Buys Avencom

San Diego online strategy firm Red Door Interactive Inc. agreed to buy Avencom, a 5-year-old Web development firm.


The deal will yield Avencom clients in government and home building while letting Red Door cross-sell its design and strategy services. Terms were not disclosed.


Red Door will absorb Avencom's team of Web developers. Avencom president Laura Wilbur will help Red Door through the transition and stay on the acquiring company's board of advisers.


Westchester Associates LLC, a San Diego and London mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, advised Red Door.


Red Door offers Web design, development and traffic analysis, wireless Internet technology consulting, search engine promotion, site content updates and online marketing campaigns. Clients include Sharp Systems of America, SkinMedica, Alliance Lumber, Toshiba's Network Products division and Ensemble Communications.
