Re-Route to Offer E-Mail Change-of-Address and Forwarding Service

Add another name to the list of companies offering e-mail change-of-address services.

Re-route.com Inc. is beta-testing a change-of-address service that also offers message forwarding. The service, which acts as the change-of-address cards used by the U.S. Postal Service, forwards messages to a recipient's new e-mail address and sends a change-of-address notification to the sender.

The company claims its service is the first in the industry to offer change-of-address and forwarding services simultaneously.

"Changing e-mail addresses is difficult and a major reason Internet users hesitate to change ISPs," said Cloyd Laporte, president/CEO of Re-route, Annandale, VA. "We solve this problem by providing both [an] e-mail forwarding service and change-of-address notification."

The company also said it has pending contracts to offer the service to Internet service providers and e-mail services.
