Nielsen Co. sent a letter on February 8 to its customers acknowledging the delays in ratings reports. The company has hired Cheryl Idell, former EVP of media and marketĀ­ing planning at Twentieth Century Fox, to oversee Nielsen's media analytics products.

Nielsen also has plans to upgrade its computer servers as it is attributing its reporting problems in large part to the increased amount of data it processed in the past year.
