Rare Method buys Utah BTB shop

Rare Method Interactive Corp., an interactive agency in Calgary, Alberta, has bought Blain Olsen White Gurr Advertising, Salt Lake City, UT.

The Canadian shop will make the Blain Olsen a wholly owned subsidiary of Rare Method. The sale price is $1.6 million.

This deal is part of Rare Method's plan to boost its presence in the western United States, including the cities Phoenix, Las Vegas and Denver.

Business-to-business-focused Blain Olsen works on accounts such as Telcordia Technologies, 3M Health Information Systems, Thanksgiving Point and the Salt Lake City Convention and Visitors Bureau. Its 23 employees generated revenue of $2.9 million last year.
