Quebecor Gets Avon Catalogs for South America

Quebecor World yesterday reached a deal with Avon to print all the beauty-product direct marketer's catalogs distributed in Peru, Chile and Bolivia.


The catalogs will be printed at Quebecor's plants in Peru and Chile, the commercial printing house said. Quebecor previously has provided printing services for Avon marketing materials distributed in North America and Europe.


Further information about the Avon contract was not disclosed.


Quebecor announced several other contracts for printing work in Latin America, including a $40 million deal with Telefonica De Espana to print telephone directories in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Peru, with an annual volume of 9 million printed pages.


Quebecor also announced contracts to print magazines for Reader's Digest throughout Central and South America, and a deal with Brazil's largest magazine publisher, Editora Abril, to print inserts and short-run sections for monthly magazines.


The financial value of these contracts was not disclosed.
