Purchase Gives eUniverse 6.5 Million More E-Mail Addresses

Entertainment destination eUniverse.com has bought IntelligentX, a company with 6.5 million e-mail newsletter subscribers via 29 online publications.


EUniverse, Los Angeles, picks up technology, entertainment and special-offers newsletters in the deal. The newsletters bring the company's e-mail marketing capacity to 40 million addresses.


Financial terms were not disclosed yesterday.


The firm, which already owned various game and entertainment sites such as justsaywow.com and funtown.com, believes the acquisition bolsters its offering to advertisers such as Sony, New Line Cinema and Listen.com.


"We get a tremendous boost to the audience we reach via e-mail while also enhancing our advertising and direct marketing opportunities," said Brad Greenspan, chairman/CEO of eUniverse. "In addition, the added distribution allows us to promote our Web-based network to a significant new user base."
