Publishing Veteran Steiger Dies at 75

Longtime publishing professional Dale A. Steiger died Jan. 1 of lung cancer and complications of Parkinson's disease in Des Moines, IA.

After working in several publishing positions including posts at The Curtis Publishing Company and LOOK Magazine, Steiger opened Dale Steiger Associates, a New York-based consulting company, in 1972. Later he opened a subscription subsidiary called SUBCO Inc. in Des Moines with business associate Judy LeWarne.

Steiger was a past president of the Fulfillment Management Association and was a recipient of that organization's Lee C. Williams Award for outstanding contributions to the periodicals publishing field in 1980.

Steiger relocated from Rye, NY, to Des Moines in 1997. His daughters Alice Falco and Marta Steiger and a brother, Jacob, survive him. Memorial services were held Jan. 8 at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, and contributions in Steiger's name can be made to the church at 5128 Meredith Drive, Des Moines, IA 50310.
