Privacy Council Offers Free Policy Generator
The Privacy Council announced the availability of a free compact privacy policy generator yesterday for firms looking to comply with the Platform for Privacy Preferences, or P3P.P3P is a technology that lets Web surfers match their privacy preferences against the information-gathering practices of the sites they visit without having to read the sites' privacy policies. It is built into Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 6.0 browser.
Because of IE 6.0's inclusion of P3P technology, people using it to browse the Web will receive warnings when sites visited do not contain compact privacy policies for each cookie used.
The generator is called the Free P3P Solution and is available at www.privacycouncil.com.
