Pricegrabber Expands to Canada, UK

Pricegrabber is expected today to officially launch comparison-shopping search sites for Canada and the United Kingdom.

The Los Angeles-based company said the Canadian site mirrors the U.S. site, which has 16 categories. The Canadian site includes Canadian merchants and U.S. sellers that ship to Canada. The UK site begins with a narrower focus of four categories, including computers, software, photography and electronics.

Pricegrabber's expansion follows fellow shopping search site NexTag, which two weeks ago opened a UK business. Shopping.com and BizRate also have sites in the UK. Yahoo signaled the importance it places on expanding shopping search internationally with its $575 million acquisition in March of Kelkoo, the leading European e-commerce search engine.
