PowerTV and Prasara Merge

Interactive television company PowerTV has completed a merger with Prasara Technologies to create a new interactive television company. The new firm will provide end-to-end interactive television capabilities -- from back-end management to software applications -- through a variety of delivery mechanisms, including any cable digital set-top box.

Prasara brings its I-TV knowledge and experience to PowerTV, having developed and operated the first I-TV system in America -- Time Warner's Full Service Network. PowerTV, which announced the merger yesterday, is not yet operational in the United States, but it has developed an operating system for I-TV as well as middleware and user applications.
