Postmaster General Names New Vice President

Postmaster General Marvin Runyon announced March 10 the appointment of Michael J. Shinay as U.S. Postal Service vice president and consumer advocate. As consumer advocate, Shinay deals with the concerns of individual postal customers and sponsors their interests with postal management.

Under Shinay's direction, customers receive feedback and corrective actions are taken when necessary. His organization also develops and manages external, independent measures of service performance and customer satisfaction.

"Since January 1997, Mike has played a significant leadership role acting in the consumer advocate function," Runyon said. "He brings more than 28 years of federal experience to his new assignment, 26 of which have been with the postal service."
