Washington CEO acquired, folded into Seattle Business

Washington CEO, a business monthly operated by Sabey Corp., has been acquired by Tiger Oak Publications for an undisclosed amount. It will cease publication after the December issue.

Tiger Oak will merge Washington CEO's assets into its own 27,594-circulation Seattle Business magazine. Subscribers to Washington CEO, which has a monthly circulation of 32,500, will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Seattle Business.

"I operated Washington CEO even though it wasn't core to our business because I believe the business community needs a strong and respected voice," Dave Sabey, chairman of Sabey Corp., said in a statement. "We made the decision in these challenging economic times that the best way to preserve a voice was by merging CEO into Seattle Business. The Tiger Oak people are publishing professionals with enough size and experience that they can take a business magazine to the next level. We think the business community and, in particular, our advertisers will be well served by this merger."

Tiger Oak executives have pledged to incorporate aspects of Washington CEO into Seattle Business and carry on with most of Washington CEO's scheduled 2009 events.

Washington CEO has 13 full-time staff members and two part-time staffers. Some of these employees are interviewing for new positions at Tiger Oak, which also publishes Seattle Magazine, Seattle Bride and Minnesota Bride, among others. Just last month Tiger Oak purchased magazine group Great Water Media, publishers of Minnesota Business and Edina Magazine.
