Forms Relationship With Midwest Free Community Papers

In an effort to expand its online classified network,, the Web site of the shopper publications of Harte-Hanks Inc., has entered into a relationship with the Midwest Free Community Papers.

Midwest Free Community Papers is a nonprofit organization representing more than 140 free-circulation community newspapers and shoppers. Its circulation reaches more than 3.5 million homes across the Midwest.

The announcement was made Sept. 12 by Rancho Cordova, CA-based PennySaver, which has more than 1,100 community editions. PennySaver and The Flyer shoppers have a circulation of 13 million in California and Florida.

MFCP represents more than 140 free papers in a twelve state region that covers Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. MFCP also publishes display and insert advertising under the name of Midwest NewsNet.

Through this relationship, is designated as MFCP's vendor of choice for Web services and online classified aggregation for its members. MFCP will, in turn, market and support the Web site. That will allow individual MFCP members to receive Web classified services and list their own online classified ads.

This alliance with MFCP further expands the association network of In July 2006, the company entered into a relationship with the Association of Free Community Papers on behalf of its 2,000 member free-circulation community papers and shoppers. From that deal it gained a circulation that reached into 45 million homes.

Under the agreement, each MFCP member publication that joins will gain instant access to an extensive nationwide database of local classified ads to augment its own local listings.
