Postal Carrier Charged With Destruction of Mail
A Massachusetts postal worker was charged yesterday in federal court with destruction of mail, according to reports.The complaint states that USPS mail carrier Patrick T. Doyle, 21, of Framingham, MA, delivered half of his designated mail April 3 and took the other half to his home. Doyle then allegedly wrapped tape around the trays, loaded the trays into his car and drove to Macomber Pond where he threw the mail into the pond. More than 1,000 pieces of mail were recovered May 1 after investigators were contacted by an individual who found mail on the banks of the pond.
No date has been set for Doyle's initial court appearance. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
