PocketDBA Offers Database Administrators Wireless Remote Monitoring

PocketDBA Systems yesterday introduced a new software product called the pocketDBA that will provide database administrators with the ability to monitor, manage and troubleshoot Oracle databases remotely using wireless hand-held devices.

The product is designed to give database administrators a secure way to update, monitor, tune and manage databases when they are away from desktop or dial-up connections, according to the Chicago-based company.

The pocketDBA also will give users the ability to connect to multiple databases with one hand-held console by using a pull-down menu at the top of the pocketDBA screen.

The product works with Oracle databases, and the software runs on wireless Palm OS devices. Modules of the product include Pocket Command Center, Pocket Object Viewer, Pocket Performance Viewer and Pocket User Manager.

PocketDBA is available through either an annual rental license or a purchase license
