Pitney Bowes, Neopost Settle Mail-Metering Suit

Pitney Bowes Inc. and Neopost S.A. settled patent disputes by agreeing to a cross-licensing agreement, the two companies said yesterday.


Each company will be able to access certain patented technologies from the other for five years.


Pitney Bowes filed suits Oct. 28 in U.S. District Court and the Trial Division of the Federal Court of Canada against Neopost S.A., Neopost Inc. and various Neopost subsidiaries in Canada. The suits charged Neopost with infringement of 12 Pitney Bowes patents in the United States and eight patents in Canada covering mail-metering technologies.
