P&G launches sweepstakes for Mother's day

Procter & Gamble launched the “Thank You, Mom” contest on May 6. The consumer packaged goods company worked with DL Blair, a promotional marketing firm, on the initiative, which will help family members reunite.

On the campaign website, ThankYouMom.com, consumers can enter to win a gift card to defray the costs of a reunion with family members. Registrants must submit a 100-word essay on why they would like to be reunited with their mother to qualify.

To enter, consumers must disclose their names and home and e-mail addresses. Visitors to the site can also opt in to receive P&G's “Everyday Solutions” e-mail newsletter.

However, Marc Pritchard, global marketing and brand building officer at P&G, said via e-mail that the company will not collect consumer data from the entry forms or use it to retarget consumers.

The contest is part of P&G's “Proud Sponsor of Moms” campaign, which was launched during February's 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
