Penny Reid Is Cannes Lions CEO

Penny Reid is the new CEO of the International Advertising Festival, advertising's most prestigious competition, also known as Cannes Lions. She succeeds Terry Savage, now executive chairman of the festival.


A 20-year veteran of marketing, Reid served stints at Saatchi & Saatchi, BMPDDB and TBWAGGT. She was most recently chairman of Tequila London. Reid starts work this month at Cannes Lions, based at the festival's London headquarters.


The 53rd Cannes Lions is June 18-24 in the French Riviera resort of Cannes. Nearly 9,500 ad and marketing executives worldwide attended last year, viewing 22,000 ads across all media and sitting through numerous seminars.


Meanwhile, Matias Palm-Jensen was named 2006 Cyber Lions jury president. He is creative president of Farfar, a 5-year-old Swedish interactive agency with clients like Absolut, Nokia, Heineken, Red Bull, Adidas, Red Cross and Warner Music.
