Peapod, Giant Food Deliver to DC

Internet grocer Peapod, Chicago, and supermarket chain Giant Food Inc., Landover, MD, are combining their efforts to make deliveries on Web orders in the Washington area starting next week.


To place orders, consumers can log on to www.giantfood.com where they can choose attended or unattended delivery and have groceries delivered as soon as the next day. "Peapod by Giant" grocery orders will be prepared and delivered from a fulfillment center owned by Peapod in Gaithersburg, MD.


Specific delivery areas for the service will include northwest Washington, Montgomery County in Maryland and Fairfax County in Virginia. Terms of the agreement between Peapod and Giant were not disclosed.
