University of Arkansas' Sam M. Walton College of Business has joined forces with Pitney Bowes MapInfo Corp. and the Gadberry Group LLC to provide the school's finance students with access to advanced spatial technology from MapInfo and the most current data intelligence products from Gadberry.

“Markets are global, but competition is local,” said Wayne Lee, Walton College's finance department chair and executive director of the Garrison Financial Institute, in a statement. “Understanding the idiosyncratic attributes of consumers where they live and work is critical to the success of any business. Our students have an unparalleled window of opportunity to lead in the strategic use of this innovative technology.”

The data technology provided has particular synergy with Walton College's newly redesigned MBA program, which focuses on consumer products and retailing with industry career track electives in retail marketing and supply chain management and other areas.

By using Gadberry's data MicroBuildT product with mapping technology, the aim is to further research practical applications of data and visualization for retail and real estate professionals.

Gadberry Group, led by UA alumnus Adam Gadberry, is a strategic business partner of MapInfo.
