PA Play Reading Puts Infomercials in Spotlight

Direct marketing takes center stage, literally, this week as part of the New Play Festival at Philadelphia's Hedgerow Theater.

Copywriter Albert Fried-Cassorla wrote "Info-Boy," a play that will have a stage reading tonight and Wednesday. Wednesday's reading will be for members of the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association.

Satirical in nature, "Info-Boy" features a middle-aged infomercial executive who faces many conflicting pressures from his job in the DRTV industry. Among them: a drive to find success with his latest venture, Blues-Blockers, which are ultraviolet-powered sunglasses that elevate people's moods.

Fried-Cassorla is president of Fried-Cassorla Communications Inc., Melrose Park, PA. The Hedgerow Theater is at 63 Rose Valley Road, Media, PA. For more information, call 610/565-4211 or 215/635-5189.
