Outlook Group Reports Loss for Q1

Outlook Group Corp., Neenah, WI, a printing, packaging and direct marketing company, last week reported net sales of $17.06 million for its first quarter ended Aug. 30, up from $17 million in the same period in the previous year.

However, the company posted a loss of $207,000 for its first quarter of fiscal 2004, compared with earnings of $422,000 in its first quarter of fiscal 2003. Before the effect of a change in accounting principles, earnings in first-quarter 2003 totaled $658,000.

President/chief operating officer Joseph J. Baksha said that expenses involved in the start-up phases of three new long-term contracts affected earnings in the past three quarters. However, he said, those contracts are expected to generate more than $14 million in sales during fiscal 2004.
