Otto Inducted Into DMA Hall of Fame

CHICAGO -- Dr. Michael Otto, chairman of The Spiegel Group, yesterday was inducted into the Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame, the top honor in direct and Internet marketing.

The induction was announced at the DMA's fall show held this week in Chicago. Martin Zaepfel, vice-chairman and president/CEO of Spiegel, a catalog and Internet retailer of apparel and home furnishings, accepted the honor on Otto's behalf.

Otto founded his self-named direct marketing empire, which now boasts revenue of $21 billion, more than 76,000 employees, and a presence in the U. S., Europe and Asia. The Otto group ranks behind Amazon.com Inc. in business-to-consumer e-commerce with sales of more than $1 billion.
