Oracle Subscriptions to Educate IT Specialists

Oracle Corp. recently announced a subscription-based education service designed to keep information technology professionals up-to-date with the software firm's products.

Called the Learning Network, the program allows subscribers to choose from instructor-led online classes, self-paced material or Internet seminars.

In particular, the classes include short tutorials that use streaming video presentations, quizzes and directions for hands-on exercises. The self-paced version, however, entails four hours of text-based self-study, written course materials and online quizzes. The seminars also feature Oracle product developers, consultants and support analysts sharing their expertise about the company's products.

The first level of the service that will be offered is called Professional Subscription, which is targeted at IT professionals with advanced Oracle skills.

Oracle, Red Shores, CA, said subscribers are taught the same content used to train its internal consultants and developers. A one-year subscription costs $1,195.
