OPA Opens Membership, Elects Executive Officers

Two-month-old Online Publishers Association said last week that its membership is now open to "any organization that demonstrates a commitment to publishing high-quality online content" and meets its membership criteria.

The OPA said its membership is open to any organization that intends to create a sustainable Web publishing business, is committed to producing a significant portion of original content, adheres to the OPA's mission statement and commits a senior executive to represent his organization within the OPA.

The trade association, which was founded in June by a dozen online content producers, also said it elected its first set of officers. Martin Nisenholtz, CEO of New York Times Digital, was elected chairman, Sarah Chubb, president of CondeNet, was elected secretary and Christopher Schroeder, CEO/publisher of Washingpost.Newsweek Interactive, was elected the OPA's treasurer. Each of the elected officers will serve a one year term.
