Odiorne joins Grey New York as co-creative chief

Grey New York has named Jeff Odiorne co-chief creative officer, effective March 11. He reports to Tor Myhren, president and co-CCO of the agency.

Grey created Odiorne's position to help meet the needs of Grey's growing creative department, said Owen Dougherty, chief communications officer at Grey Group.

“Odiorne will do the heavy lifting, supervising, and working with all of our creative teams. Myhren can't single-handedly run the creative office and be president as well,” said Dougherty. “As our creative department continues to grow, and as we add new business, [the hire] relieves Myhren of having to look at every single ad that goes out of the building.”

Grey New York has added more than 70 positions in the past year, he said, adding that the agency is searching for “programmers, digital strategists and creative people.”

Grey New York's clients include the NFL, DirecTV, Red Lobster and TJ Maxx.

Odiorne previously operated his own boutique agency and consultancy, Youngblood. Previously, he was the founder, chairman and executive creative director of Odiorne Wilde Narraway and Partners and also worked at Chiat/Day, Goldberg Moser O'Neill and Publicis & Hal Riney. Odiorne started his career as a copywriter at Young & Rubicam.

Dougherty said Grey New York looked internally to fill the position, but ultimately “Myhren felt [Odiorne] was the right guy for the job.”

Grey New York did not hire a recruiter for the search process.
