NYU's Direct Marketing Program Receives More Funds

The Master of Science in Direct Marketing program at the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies received $50,000 in grants at the Direct Marketing Days New York conference late last month.


According to NYU, there are 103 students enrolled in the master's program, which began in September 1997. The 38-credit program includes courses in marketing database, financial analysis, statistics, modeling, media, Internet, creative, fulfillment, operations and systems, and leadership.


Through the 1998-1999 academic year, NYU's Center for Direct Marketing gave individual student partial scholarships totaling $87,000.


Since its inception, the program has received close to $500,000 in support from various groups, including Columbia House, Grey Direct, Harte Hanks Direct Marketing, Publishers Clearing House, Bronner Slosberg and the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation.


The grants presented at the DMDNY came from the following people and organizations: $25,000 from the Board of Directors of DMDNY; $5,000 from the Charles K. Cavanagh Memorial Fund; $10,000 in honor of Jay Walker, founder of Priceline.com and DMDNY's direct marketer of the year; and $10,000 from Jay Walker personally.
