NRF Creates International Retail Federation

The National Retail Federation yesterday announced the formation of the International Retail Federation, a division that will serve the interests of retailers worldwide.

The IRF will handle networking events and educational projects as well as be a resource to help retailers in a tight retail market. Other membership benefits include access to global retail trade associations, government lobbying, participation on international advisory boards and a line into research.

Based in Washington, the IRF starts with 300 members. Current NRF members based outside the United States automatically become part of the IRF. NRF president/CEO Tracy Mullin will do double duty as IRF president.

The IRF soon will announce new alliances, the NRF said in a statement. The NRF is the world's leading retail trade body.
