Novus Files Suit Against Former Employee

List firm Novus Marketing Inc., Minneapolis, last month filed a suit against a former vice president, alleging that she has disclosed or will disclose proprietary information to Novus' competitors, according to an attorney representing Novus.

The suit seeks an injunction preventing Monica Smith from supplying Novus' trade secrets to competitors and also seeks monetary damages, said Thomas E. Propson, an attorney with Meagher & Geer, Minneapolis. Smith left Novus earlier this year and has since worked as a consultant for other list companies, including Acxiom/Direct Media, Greenwich, CT.

Smith could not immediately be reached for comment.

Propson said the suit originally was filed in a state court but was transferred to U.S. Federal District Court In Minneapolis at the request of Smith's attorney. Propson said he is seeking to have the venue changed back to the state court level.
