Nokia Begins Wireless Service in China
Cell phone maker Nokia and Chinadotcom, an Asian Internet company, have launched Nokia's wireless platform in China as part of a pact between the two companies to promote mobile services in China, the companies said.The deal, announced yesterday, will bring mobile services to 11 major provinces and cities in China.
The companies said the wireless market is a potential future growth engine for Chinadotcom, which has been trying to reinvent itself following the dot-com downturn while de-emphasizing its reliance on the consumer sector.
Chinadotcom, through its Moeasy unit and its associate company iiL Corp, built the wireless platform for Nokia's SMS and wireless application service.
