Noemi Nieves, Former DM News Listings Editor, Dies of Cancer

Noemi Nieves, former listings editor for DM News, died after a long battle with cancer May 10 at her home in Brooklyn, NY. She was 43.


Nieves worked for DM News from 1996 to 2001. Before that, she was senior office associate at Gouverneur Hospital and office manager at Unitech Corporate Recruiters, both in New York.


"Noemi could laugh the entire day and make everyone around her smile, too," said editor in chief Tad Clarke. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this time."


Nieves is survived by her daughter, Sabrina; parents, Euripides and Hero Aleman; four sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Zion Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn.
