The national no-call list became available yesterday for download from the Federal Trade Commission by telemarketers, with enforcement set to begin Oct. 1.

Telemarketers can go to telemarketing.donotcall.gov to obtain an online ID and password to subscribe to the list and begin downloading. The availability date initially announced by the FTC, Sept. 1, was pushed back to Sept. 2 because of the Labor Day holiday.

A new business compliance guide from the FTC concerning its updated telemarketing rules is now available at www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/tsrcomp.htm#intro. Six million consumers registered over the Labor Day weekend pushing the list up to 48.4 million telephone numbers, according to the FTC.
