Nielsen Media Buys Dutch Ad Intelligence Firm

Nielsen Media Research said yesterday that it acquired BBC De Media en Reclame Bank, an advertising research company in the Netherlands. Terms were not disclosed.


BBC monitors the Dutch advertising market including newspapers, magazines, direct mail, Internet, television, radio and cinema. Its Adfinders database contains information on 145,000 advertisers and 300,000 products in more than 1,000 titles.


BBC will remain based in Amsterdam and will be rebranded Nielsen Media Research. Ben van der Werf, current director and CEO of BBC, will continue managing the company.


Nielsen provides advertising intelligence in 30 markets worldwide, representing 85 percent of the world's ad spend.
