Lyris report finds opt-in e-mail getting junked

Nearly one out of every five opt-in e-mails sent to US-based ISPs lands in the junk folder, with only about 76% making it to the inbox, according to a new report by e-mail marketing firm Lyris.
 

Reunion.com partners with StrongMail

Social networking site Reunion.com has teamed up with e-mail marketing services firm StrongMail Systems Inc. to move its e-mail communications from an in-house system. Reunion.com, a social site with 35 million users and growing by about 1 million users a month, lets consumers create profiles to find old friends.
 

E-mail blocks allowed

A US District Court judge in Northern Illinois ruled that the Communications Decency Act of 1996 protects Internet service providers from being held liable for mis­takenly blocking permission-based e-mail. Dave Linhardt, CEO of 360 Insight, lost a case, in which he accused broadband cable provider Comcast of unfairly blocking messages that he claimed were permission based. The judge ruled that Comcast had acted in good faith when it blocked e360's messages.
