WPP's GroupM, a media investment management organization, has announced plans to consolidate and restructure its global search marketing operations. The changes will take place immediately, the company said.
As part of a series of recently announced steps to improve the overall customer experience, eBay will be improving the search functionality on its site this year. "The onsite experience hadn't kept up with buyer expectations," said Usher Lieberman, senior communications manager at eBay, about moves which include a reduction in the fee for listing items and a fee increase when an item is sold.
IAC's Citysearch and AOL announced today that they had struck a deal to share Citysearch's local content and pay-per-performance ad network with AOL's network of sites. "It's a win-win situation," said Chris Spanos, director of search verticals at AOL. "We get to provide a better user experience and improve the monetization of those properties."
In order to give users more geographical flexibility when searching its free online classified listings, Hoobly has added a radius search feature to its site. In addition to searching by city, state, country or everywhere, the new feature will enable Hoobly users to select a city and then zoom in or out of that location within five to 500 miles.
Poynt, an instant messenger-based local search service developed by Multiplied Media, has gone live on the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) network. The search service is already available on Windows Live Messenger.
