Merkle creates standalone business to measure media buying

Database marketing agency Merkle has formed a business, called LogicLab, to create results-based measurements for media buying. It will develop online tools for media buyers to determine the value of their ad buys. Merkle is developing similar tools on a proprietary basis for some clients.

Adobe's decision to acquire Omniture later this year signals a newfound prominence for Web analytics and measurement tools within the online marketing industry. The deal could also indicate that other firms in the measurement space will hear from suitors as more companies look to add analytic tools, according to industry experts.
 

Inuit to acquire Mint.com for $170 million

Software company Intuit agreed this week to purchase online personal finance firm Mint.com in a cash transaction valued at approximately $170 million. The deal is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
