Fake online reviews draw NY suit

Last week, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo came to a settlement with cosmetic surgery firm Lifestyle Lift, after the firm allegedly published fake consumer reviews across the Web.
 

Golden Gate places highest bid for Eddie Bauer

July 17, 2009

Golden Gate Capital has emerged as the leading bidder for Eddie Bauer during a bankruptcy auction this week, with an all-cash bid for $286 million. The Golden Gate offer will be presented for court approval on July 22 and, if it is accepted, the transaction is expected to close in early August. Eddie Bauer voluntarily entered initiated Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings last month. At the time, it entered into an asset purchase agreement with CCMP Capital Advisors LLC for $202 million in cash, which could be superseded by other bids at auction.
 

Heineken taps Euro RSCG as AOR

Euro RSCG will start work as the English-language AOR for Heineken on August 1. The agency will be managing strategy and creative for the Heineken brand franchise.
 

Google cost per click declines

July 17, 2009

Google announced its second quarter 2009 earnings on July 16, with $5.52 billion in revenues, a 3% increase compared with the same period in 2008. However, its average cost per click, which includes clicks related to ads served on Google sites and its AdSense partner sites, decreased 13%.
