DMA makes second round of cutbacks

In a second round of cutbacks in recent months, the Direct Marketing Association today let go 26 employees and cancelled some events. It has reduced its staff by more than 50 employees in the past five months, bringing the current staff roster to 86.
 

RR Donnelley, Orchard Brands in $175 million print deal

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. has signed a $175 million multi-year agreement with multi-channel merchant Orchard Brands to provide 100% of the retailer's catalog printing and postal logistics services. The deal renews and expands RR Donnelley's relationship with Orchard Brands.

The conference, the fifth of its kind, focused on the magazine industry's foray into the digital space as a way to reach customers.
 

Time Warner companies team with Adobe to secure content revenues

Turner Broadcasting System, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Home Box Office (HBO) have allied with Adobe Flash Plat­form to more fully monetize their online video and other Web content. The partnership will allow the three com­panies to better protect their content and understand online video performance and audience measurement, said Jennifer Taylor, director of product management for Flash creation and distribution at Adobe.
 

SEMPO board elects new officers, promotes Pruitt, Holoubek

The board of the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) has elected a new batch of officers. Jeffrey Pruitt, former president of SEMPO, will now serve as chairman. He is also EVP of corporate partnerships at search agency iCrossing. Sara Holoubek, former board member of SEMPO, will replace Pruitt as president.
